Our Web Design Principles and Process

We build websites with users in mind; we firmly believe that you won’t achieve your objectives until your users achieve theirs.

That’s why we make it our goal to create clean, simple websites that are both visually appealing and structured for easy user navigation. It’s undisputed: simple websites work.

Stage 1. Planning

To make sure we get things right, we’ll start off the design process by asking you to fill in our internal questionnaire. This will identify your key objectives, your intended audience, any specific/custom functionality you are looking for and more.

Stage 2. We’ll Start Building

Once we’re confident we understand what you need from the project, we’ll get to work drafting a “bare-bones” site for your approval. It will include the key page templates. We choose to start ‘building’ as opposed to designing wireframes and concepts because we find it to be more efficient This helps us to deliver a website at a cost far cheaper than the big end of town.

Stage 3. Approval of Draft Site

When you give us the approval for your draft site (or more specifically the templates we’ve created), we’ll proceed with building the remainder of your site. This is when we’ll require all your content and media.

Stage 4. Browser & Device Testing

Once we’ve finished ‘building’, we’ll commence testing the site on different browsers and different devices. At this stage, we’ll also begin the process of launching the website.

Not only do we guarantee an attractive, fully functional website that your users will love, you’ll also receive full access to the back-end. Unlike many of our competitors, we’re not in the business of restricting your use so you need to come back to us for every little change.

Just provide us with your content (copy and images) and we’ll take care of the rest! We offer a training session to arm your staff with the tools they’ll need to make most changes and updates in-house.

FAQs

How much does WordPress website design cost?

An oldie but a goodie. You can pay as little as a few hundred dollars to get a WordPress website built. It really depends on your needs and your business objectives. For example, if you just need a one-page website to ask for people’s email address, that would be on the lower-end. But if you need a dozen plus pages and your website is something that needs to generate new business leads, then of course it will (and should) cost more.

What are the limitations of developing a site using WordPress?

The most efficient way to develop a WordPress website is to buy a theme and customise it. But each theme will have its own set of limitations because each has been developed for a specific scope of functionality. You can add plugins for special functionality, but you’re limited to the plugins that have been developed. These plugins also must be compatible with your WordPress theme and version. So again, there are some limitations.

What are the best plugins for WordPress?

Where do we start? There’s so many great plugins available for a range of functions. There are some that we use on just about every site we build. They are – Yoast SEO, Redirection, Google Analytics by MonsterInsights, Ninja Forms (and Zapier add-on), AMP, WP-Sweep, and Autoptimize.

How much will my website cost?

We quote our website projects on a case-by-case basis, but we do start from $4,500+gst. Approximately 75% of the websites we build will come in at this price.

Are all WordPress websites responsive?

The majority of recently launched WordPress themes will be responsive. The theme developers want to sell as many licenses as they can to maximise revenue, so it makes sense for them to build a responsive theme. But there’s some older themes that will not be responsive and they should probably also be avoided for additional reasons.

What are the best web hosting services in Australia?

This can be a difficult question to answer because it depends on where your priorities lie. For example, do you prioritise service, speed, security or reliability? We’ve tried and tested so many hosting services, whether on our own websites or in working with our client’s sites, and there’s a couple of standouts. If you have a WordPress website, then we couldn’t recommend WP Engine highly enough. With a data centre now in Sydney, there is really no excuse not to be using them. If you are not on WordPress, then we would encourage you to check out Panthur.
